Quality Control: new vision control system

To ensure seamless quality control for filtration meshes, GKD’s automated production facility has been upgraded with a high-performance autonomous camera system.

Possible weaving errors and foreign particles in filter elements are eliminated thanks to the imaging process of the in-line surface inspection system. The Vision Control System is able to inspect a wide range of mesh types and strip widths. The high-resolution camera ensures that the required aperture is observed and also detects foreign particles larger than 500 µm on the mesh strips. Fitted with a telecentric lens, the system guarantees distortion-free measuring accuracy.

Any suspected errors in the mesh or foreign particles are automatically marked and then detected and ejected in the subsequent punching process. The system for automatic in-line surface inspection is located in GKD’s new Clean Room 2. This is where inspection of products including the mesh for the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) filter elements for many international automobile manufacturers takes place.
