Metal mesh safeguard on pedestrian bridge in Canada

Griffiths Drive Bridge

Stainless steel mesh from GKD offers safety and protection while also ensuring visual transparency on the Griffith Drive Pedestrian Bridge in Burnaby, Canada.

The bridge design, created by the architects at Busby Perkins+Will, is distinguished by its single, pronounced arch that stretches diagonally across the bridge and is connected to the supporting structure using stainless steel cables.

Two-meter-high Futura 3110 metal mesh elements fitted on the sides protect pedestrians crossing the bridge from gusts of wind. The 32 mesh panels, which curve gently toward the center of the bridge, provide reliable fall guard protection and underline the transparent appearance of the design. The panels are mounted by means of round bars and eyebolts integrated into the mesh.

The bridge cladded in this manner with GKD metal mesh connects the residential area with the schools situated on the other side of the four-lane highway. In addition, the stainless steel cladding serves as fall guard protection and thus ensures the safety of the users.
