Strike protection

Lightning strike protection meshes from GKD are used as an integral part of components made of composite material.

Composite components based on fiberglass (GRP) or carbon (CRP) must be protected from lightning strikes through use of conductive metal mesh (LSP) when used in aviation applications or for wind turbines. Depending on the potential hazard resulting from the geometry or installation situation of these components, several wire meshes made of aluminum, copper or bronze are available in various weights.

GKD is a qualified supplier for all wire meshes fitted by Airbus and many other aircraft manufacturers. Other applications in the shipbuilding or wind turbine sector are provided with individually tailored metal meshes.
